Materials & Process

Made to hold the impossible.

Each Unearthly Origins edition is produced on coated aluminum, where color is infused into the surface rather than printed as a layer on top. The result is a luminous, architectural object built to let the artwork remain the focus.

The aluminum print

The image becomes part of the surface.

Exploded view showing artwork infused into the layers of a coated aluminum panel

ChromaLuxe® aluminum panels are engineered for dye sublimation. Under controlled heat and pressure, solid dyes become a gas and enter the panel’s receptive coating. As the panel cools, the color is locked into that surface.

  1. Prepared imageThe artwork is translated for the selected proportion and aluminum surface.
  2. Heat infusedDyes move into the coating under heat and pressure.
  3. Finished for displayThe panel is inspected and completed with the chosen presentation system.

Visual depth

The white aluminum surface supports saturated color, deep blacks and fine edge detail, with a subtle luminosity that changes as light moves through the room.

Made for lived-in spaces

Because the image is infused into the coating, it is designed to resist fading, moisture and ordinary environmental wear under normal display conditions.

Surface finishes

Choose how the work meets the light.

Every finish begins with a white base for tonal clarity. The choice is less about quality than how reflective you want the artwork to feel in its intended room.

01

White Gloss

The signature gallery finish: smooth, luminous and reflective, with a glass-like presence but no separate acrylic layer. A strong default for saturated color and dramatic contrast.

02

White Matte

Retains the white base and metal-print character with reduced shine. Consider it for rooms with broad windows, entry light or another source of distracting reflection.

03

White Gloss Exterior

The exterior-oriented gloss surface for qualifying outdoor or high-exposure placements. Confirm the intended location before ordering; configuration availability and care guidance are provided for the selected work.

Mounting & framing

Seven ways to give the work presence.

Mount availability changes with the selected dimensions. The artwork configurator is always authoritative: it reveals only compatible options and updates the configured price immediately.

01

No Mount

The aluminum panel is supplied without an attached backing or frame for a custom installation or fabrication plan.

02

Box Mount

A concealed aluminum backing holds the panel approximately three-quarters of an inch from the wall for a clean, simple float.

03

Frame Mount

An inset aluminum frame sits behind the artwork, hidden from the front, creating a three-quarter-inch floating effect while keeping attention on the image.

04

Tuxedo Mount

A black polystyrene backing and black frame create a finished black-on-black profile, adding edge protection and substance for pieces that may be handled more often.

05

Standoff Mount

Machined aluminum posts pass visibly through the artwork corners, turning the hardware into part of an architectural wall presentation.

06

Black Floater Frame

A black outer frame leaves deliberate space around the aluminum panel, producing a pronounced floating gallery presentation.

07

Black Edge Mount

The black frame follows the panel edge for a clean, modern side profile with greater visual weight than a concealed mount.

Care & installation

Quiet care for a lasting surface.

01

Handle deliberately

Use clean, dry hands and lift the work from its edges. Avoid placing the image face-down on an unprotected surface.

02

Clean gently

For routine indoor care, begin with a clean, soft microfiber cloth. Avoid abrasive pads and household cleaners unless the care instructions supplied with the work specifically allow them.

03

Match hardware to the wall

Follow the instructions supplied with the chosen presentation system and use fasteners appropriate for the wall material and artwork weight. Engage a professional installer when the substrate or scale warrants it.

04

Plan the placement

Use an exterior-rated surface only where offered. Indoor finishes should be displayed in an appropriate interior environment.

Production & delivery

Produced for your configuration.

Each piece is made to order through a specialist metal-print production partner and shipped directly to its destination. Exact surface, mounting, production and delivery choices are confirmed through the artwork configurator and checkout.

Made to order

Your selected size, surface and presentation system are produced as one configured work rather than drawn from finished inventory.

Timing shown before purchase

Available rush production and estimated shipping are shown during configuration. Rush and standard-production artwork must be placed in separate orders.

Arrival review

Inspect the package and artwork promptly after delivery and retain the packaging while any damage or replacement question is resolved.
